Portal 2 Hints

Once I have one, how can I get it back to the first chamber section?

  • 1 of 8: You can't go against an excursion funnel's direction of flow, and there aren't any portal-friendly surfaces on your ledge's back wall, so you won't be able to just funnel yourself straight back across.
  • 2 of 8: That's where the aerial faith plate that's near one end of the ledge comes in.
  • 3 of 8: Looking across the area from the faith plate, you'll see that if you step on it, it'll toss you across to the wall section with the concentric rings painted on it, after which you'll fall into the abyss.
  • 4 of 8: But what if an extended funnel section was going across the abyss next to the painted circles?
  • 5 of 8: The idea here is that the funnel will push you over to where you can drop down to the first chamber section's floor.
  • 6 of 8: Due to that, you'll want the funnel coming out of the wall that's to the left of the painted circles, not the wall that's over on the right side of the area.
  • 7 of 8: Move the blue portal onto the bottom right corner of the portal-friendly wall section that's nearest the painted circles, then pick up the franken-turret and step on the faith plate.
  • 8 of 8: Don't wait until the funnel pushes you all the way over to the opposite wall. When you're about halfway across, turn to face the first chamber section and push your way out of the funnel.
