Portal 2 Hints
How can I get the companion cube onto the big red button?
1 of 8: First, find a way to get it from the lower floor to the upper area.
2 of 8: Since you can't take it on the lift with you, try using portals.
3 of 8: The only portal-friendly surfaces in the upper area are the two slanty wall panels, so put an orange portal on either one of them.
4 of 8: Look down to the lower floor and fire a blue portal at the companion cube. That should cause it to drop onto the upper area in a spot where you can get it.
5 of 8: Now you need to get it up onto the floor that has the big red button on it.
6 of 8: You could take it over to the edge of that floor and toss it up so that it lands on the floor.
7 of 8: Or you could hold onto it while portal-flinging yourself onto the button's floor, which is something you'll have to do anyway. (Or you could portal-fling the cube onto that floor by itself, and then follow it.)
8 of 8: Once you and the cube are in the button's area, put the cube on the button to keep the exit area's extender platform raised.
