Portal 2 Hints
How can I get the beam to the receptacle?
1 of 6: It's not strong enough to cut through the wall, so you'll need to find another way to get it around to the receptacle.
2 of 6: Trying to get more redirection cubes to bend the laser around the wall won't work, since the game won't let you have more than one cube at once.
3 of 6: Have you noticed that both sides of the wall are portal-friendly?
4 of 6: As the General Portal Info says, opening a portal on a wall won't let you go through to the other side of the wall *unless* the other side of the portal is on the other side of the wall.
5 of 6: So put a blue portal on the spot where the laser hits the wall, then put an orange portal on the opposite side of the wall so the laser can reach the receptacle.
6 of 6: Note that the orange portal may not need to be on the spot directly opposite the blue portal, depending on exactly where on the wall the laser is hitting. If you set your portals up and the laser misses the receptacle, you'll probably only need to adjust the orange portal.
