Portal 2 Hints

How can I set that up?

  • 1 of 10: Notice that the big red button is on the floor directly underneath the laser beam's path.
  • 2 of 10: Think about how you could get the cube to hover over the button and block the laser beam until you want it to stop doing so.
  • 3 of 10: Since cubes don't have a "hover" mode, you'll need to create something for it to set on.
  • 4 of 10: How about an extended light bridge? Cubes can obviously set on light bridges without falling through.
  • 5 of 10: Looking on the wall to the right of the receptacle, you'll find one portal-friendly wall section that's on the same level as the receptacle.
  • 6 of 10: Put a blue portal on that wall section, then put an orange portal on the wall section that the light bridge hits if you haven't already.
  • 7 of 10: That'll create an extended bridge section that goes right past the laser beam and right over the big red button.
  • 8 of 10: Now you need to set the storage cube on the extended bridge so that it's right over the big red button.
  • 9 of 10: The quickest way to do that is to jump up and grab the cube off of the main bridge section (if you haven't already), then jump up and drop it onto the extended bridge section right over the big red button.
  • 10 of 10: If that's too hard, get onto the main bridge section by putting the blue portal onto the lowest portal-friendly wall section and going through it, then put the blue portal back where it was. Pick up the cube and go through the orange portal to get onto the extended bridge, then drop the cube so that it blocks the laser.
