Portal 2 Hints
How can I get onto the upper floor?
1 of 7: That's where the first portal-flinging gimmick comes in. Turn around from facing the upper floor and look up high.
2 of 7: You'll see that an orange portal is set on a high-up extended wall section.
3 of 7: Where could you put a blue portal so that going through it would "fling" you through the orange portal with enough force to get you to the upper floor?
4 of 7: The only possibility is the nearby pit. Look down into it without falling into it.
5 of 7: You'll see that its floor is portal-friendly, so fire a blue portal onto it.
6 of 7: You then need to drop into the pit so that you land on the blue portal and get flung out of the orange one. That'll get you onto the upper floor.
7 of 7: NOTE: You can get onto the upper floor without doing the portal-fling thing by using the Advanced Portaling Tip in the starting area. After opening a blue portal on the wall near the big 06 sign, edge into it and then place your new blue portal on one of the portal-friendly walls that are next to the upper floor. As usual, this is only an interesting alternative for those who like to examine all portaling possibilities.
