How can I wreck that generator?

  • 1 of 14: Examining it, you'll see that it's connected to the walls in various places via hoses.
  • 2 of 14: Those must be the hoses that pump neurotoxin from the generator to wherever GLaDOS wants it sent.
  • 3 of 14: Cutting all of those hoses would deprive that crazy computer of one of her deadliest weapons.
  • 4 of 14: You have nothing on you that can cut huge hoses from a distance, but there is something nearby that could.
  • 5 of 14: Remember the laser that you saw cutting panels near the button that opened the observation annex's door?
  • 6 of 14: Look for a way to redirect that laser into the generator chamber so that it cuts through the neurotoxin distribution hoses.
  • 7 of 14: The laser is hitting a portal-friendly wall, so start by putting an orange portal there.
  • 8 of 14: Go back to the observation platform and scan the generator area for portal-friendly surfaces.
  • 9 of 14: You should notice two sets of moving wall sections that are portal-friendly.
  • 10 of 14: Look to the back wall of the area to the left of the generator to see one of the moving wall sets. The other one is on the right, going along the ceiling.
  • 11 of 14: Try putting a blue portal on any of those moving wall surfaces to see what happens.
  • 12 of 14: If the surface you put the portal on isn't already almost out of sight, the laser should cut through at least one of the hoses.
  • 13 of 14: To get it to cut through all of the hoses in a set, put the blue portal on a moving surface soon after it comes into view.
  • 14 of 14: Keep hitting those surfaces with blue portals until all eight hoses are cut, then stand and watch as the generator implodes and collapses.
