Portal 2 Hints
How can I shortcut my way over there?
1 of 8: Turn left from the top of the stairs to see a lamp on a portal-friendly wall section.
2 of 8: Put a blue portal above that lamp, as high and as far to the right as you can.
3 of 8: Put an orange portal near the bottom of the wall so you can crouch-walk slowly into it.
4 of 8: Move forward until you can see the metal structure's platform over to the left, then stop.
5 of 8: Most of the flooring over there isn't portal-friendly, but you should be able to see one small corner of a piece of portal-friendly white flooring.
6 of 8: Try firing a blue portal at that piece of flooring. Move forward a bit more if you're not far enough into the orange portal to do so, then keep trying until it works.
7 of 8: When it does, you'll fall down to the walkway, but that's okay -- the blue portal has been set.
8 of 8: It's technically on a surface that's right under a lift, but if you push your way through the orange portal, the game will allow you to glitch-pop up through the lift's floor.
