Portal 2 Hints

So how can I get over there?

  • 1 of 9: You'll have to use both gel types together.
  • 2 of 9: What if you had a long runway coated with propulsion gel, followed by a small splotch of repulsion gel at the end?
  • 3 of 9: You could then gain some serious momentum by the time you jumped off the repulsion gel, and would probably make it over to the central structure.
  • 4 of 9: However, if you coat your runway with propulsion gel and then coat it with repulsion gel, the repulsion gel will cover up all the propulsion gel, making it useless.
  • 5 of 9: Look up above the end of the runway to find another portal-friendly surface on the ceiling.
  • 6 of 9: If you put a blue portal onto it (and an orange portal on the floor under a gel tube), the gel that came through would only cover the end of the runway, not the whole thing.
  • 7 of 9: Since you want a runway of propulsion gel with a bit of repulsion gel at the end, the first thing to do is put the blue portal on the central structure's wall section and get it to spray propulsion gel onto the runway.
  • 8 of 9: Relocate the blue portal to the ceiling section that's above the end of the runway, then get some repulsion gel to drop through it.
  • 9 of 9: Now you can go to the start of the runway and lean on the "Move Forward" key to get over to the central structure. (Note that you automatically jump whenever you move from propulsion gel onto repulsion gel, so there's no need to hit the Jump key.)
