How do I use the book with the dials?
of 13: Before attempting this puzzle, you should know that it will set into motion additional events in the game. A few paths will close shortly after you solve this puzzle, so you may want to save your game here and/or do some more thorough detective work before proceeding.
of 13: Put the third dial on the book, and close the four latches. You'll zoom in on the dials, and a picture of some planets with letters. Take a good look at that picture, and the text beneath it. You need to use the dials to decipher that text.
of 13: Notice the big line going through three of the planets.
of 13: These planets are "A", on the first ring, "D", on the third, and "N", on the fifth.
of 13: These three planets tell you what you need to know to decipher the message.
of 13: The letters are important, as are the ring that each letter is on.
of 13: As you play with the rings and dials, words of the message may start to show up, indicating that you're close to translating it.
of 13: The dials on the latch on the left side are irrelevant. Don't mess with them.
of 13: The top latch has a window. You should turn the dials such that the letters show up there, starting with "A" on top, "D" in the middle, and "N" on the bottom.
of 13: The bottom latch has some dials. Turn these to correspond with the rings in the picture.
of 13: Set the dials, from top to bottom, to 5, 3, and 1. Remember, the three dials on the left side must be left blank.
