How do I pick the lock?

  • 1 of 15: Put the picks in the lock at random, and try the doorknob.  Pay close attention to the picks when you do this.  (Note that one of the picks is not used.)
  • 2 of 15: There are four different spaces on the door that can a pick.  Notice that each pick can be angled in 3 different directions in each of those spaces.
  • 3 of 15: Try putting some picks in the available spaces and then see what happens when you turn the doorknob.
  • 4 of 15: You should see the picks move in a couple of different ways.  If not, move the picks around and try again.
  • 5 of 15: Some of the picks will wiggle a lot, while some will only wiggle a little bit (some may not move at all).  This is important.
  • 6 of 15: You can use this wiggling to determine if you have the right pick in the right spot, as well as whether each pick is in the correct position.  Note that a pick will not display the appropriate "wiggling" unless three other picks are also in the lock.
  • 7 of 15: If a pick wiggles a lot, it is in the wrong location entirely.
  • 8 of 15: If it only wiggles a little, it's in the right location, but at the wrong angle.
  • 9 of 15: If it doesn't wiggle, it's in the correct location, and at the correct angle.
  • 10 of 15: Using these three pieces of information, you should be able to pick the lock through trial and error.
  • 11 of 15: The third (middle) pick is not used.
  • 12 of 15: The first pick (from the left) should be centered at the bottom of the lock.
  • 13 of 15: The second pick should be angled down, in the upper right location.
  • 14 of 15: The fourth pick should be angled up, in the upper left location.
  • 15 of 15: The fifth pick should be angled to the right, in the middle location.
