Quake 4 Hints
How can I leave the first outdoor area?
1 of 7: As soon as you exit the building you're in, you'll come under attack by Strogg hovercraft.
2 of 7: The big door you need to go through is to the left and past some large and fancy pillars that you have to navigate carefully between.
3 of 7: However, that door will be locked until you've shot down three enemy hovercraft.
4 of 7: Each hovercraft has to be hit several times to be destroyed, and you don't want your tank's shields getting knocked all the way down, so shoot them quickly.
5 of 7: They can easily dodge your cannon shots if they're far away, so get close to them to shoot them. (Or stay at a distance and shoot them with the machine gun while strafing away from their missiles.)
6 of 7: TIP: If you need to take a breather to let your tank's shields regenerate, you can duck back into the garage you drove out of (though they might still be able to shoot you in there), or you can head off to the right from that garage and drive around some debris (they usually won't follow you very far in that direction).
7 of 7: NOTE: The exit doors will be unlocked when the fourth hovercraft appears, and it's perfectly okay to zoom through the doors and leave that hovercraft behind.
