Quake 4 Hints
How do I start on my long journey to the tetranode?
of 13: Drop down the shaft that Voss opens up by stomping on a floor grate.
of 13: Crouch-walk your way through the little crawlspaces until you come to a spot where you can see a harvester above you attacking some marines.
of 13: There's a ladder on one wall that you can climb.
of 13: At the top of the ladder, move off onto a higher crawlway (crouch as you do so).
of 13: Make your way along under the battle, being sure to grab the hyperblaster on the left under a small break in the overhead transparent floor.
of 13: Drop down to another crawlway and prepare to exercise your new hyperblaster on a lone sentry that assaults you.
of 13: Crouch through the small opening nearby and climb a ladder in the next area to get to a room with a couple more sentries in it.
of 13: TIP: Duck back down the ladder as soon as they see you and then shoot the one that comes over to try to shoot down at you. That'll leave just one to finish off after you climb up.
of 13: After that, go up some curving blue pipes and hop over a railing to get to an area with some ammo for your hyperblaster.
of 13: You're out of the crawlways now, and will have to deal with some large rooms full of Strogg enemies, starting with lots more sentries.
of 13: When you find the large room with many and various Strogg in it, finish them off and then find some last-minute supplies in one corner.
of 13: TIP: You can stand on the lower floor so that it's possible to shoot the gunner up on the highest walkway in the head without him being able to hit you (except with an occasional grenade, perhaps).
of 13: Then get up to the uppermost walkway to find the small lift with the exit panel. Using it will get you taken to the Nexus Hub.
