REAH Hints

The 3 Locked Doors

  • 1 of 31: After solving the scale puzzle, you find yourself on a series of metal walkways.  3 of the walkways lead to locked doors.
  • 2 of 31: The 4 panels on these doors control the locking mechanism.  Pushing certain of the panels in a specific sequence unlocks each door.
  • 3 of 31: The correct combinations are recorded somewhere.
  • 4 of 31: You will also find 2 unlocked doors which lead into numbered rooms. The room numbers (818 and 367) are briefly visible above the doorway as you enter.
  • 5 of 31: There's a computer terminal inside each room.
  • 6 of 31: Computers are ideal for recording information AND transmitting it between terminals.
  • 7 of 31: You need a data card to activate the computers.
  • 8 of 31: Study room 818 carefully and think about what you see!
  • 9 of 31: The wall panel next to the right-hand fan has been removed -- allowing you to enter the adjoining room.
  • 10 of 31: Perhaps, by using the screwdriver, you could remove another panel.
  • 11 of 31: Don't forget that room 367 also has wall panels.
  • 12 of 31: The panel next to the left-hand fan, in room 367, can be removed.
  • 13 of 31: You will see a metal contraption on the floor in the adjoining room. Underneath it is a lost data card.
  • 14 of 31: Both terminals have a slot into which the data card can be inserted.
  • 15 of 31: You won't be able to access the information, but...
  • 16 of 31: ...it can be transmitted to another terminal by entering an address on the keyboard.
  • 17 of 31: What room number are you in?
  • 18 of 31: Where do you want to transmit the information to?
  • 19 of 31: Did you notice the yellow signs (marked either "A", "B" or "C") at various points along the walkways?
  • 20 of 31: When heading towards room 818 you see a yellow sign marked "A".
  • 21 of 31: When heading towards room 367 you see a yellow sign marked "C".
  • 22 of 31: When heading towards the centre from room 818 you see a yellow sign marked "B".
  • 23 of 31: The walkways area can therefore be divided into 3 sectors -- A, B and C.
  • 24 of 31: To transmit information to the terminal in room 818, which is in sector A, you address it to...
  • 25 of 31: ...A818
  • 26 of 31: Similarly, to transmit to the terminal in room 367 in sector C, you address it to C367.
  • 27 of 31: The combinations to the locked doors will be visible on the computer monitor to which you sent it.
  • 28 of 31: The red button on the monitor allows you to "scroll" through the 3 different images of the combinations.
  • 29 of 31: Certain panels have either 1, 2 or 3 yellow dots on them.
  • 30 of 31: These indicate the order in which the panels must be pushed -- 1st, 2nd, etc.
  • 31 of 31: You must unlock all 3 doors before any of them can be opened.
