REAH Hints
The Stones Game
1 of 11: On the table in the tower you will find a bowl containing a number of blue stones.
2 of 11: To start the game "click" on the bowl.
3 of 11: The game is based on an old pub trick usually played with coins.
4 of 11: Each game starts off with either 8, 9, 10 or 11 stones. You and the alchemist then take turns to remove either 1, 2 or 3 stones. Whoever removes the last remaining stone/s wins the game.
5 of 11: Note that the first move is always yours.
6 of 11: The "secret" is that whoever's turn it is to remove stones when there are 8 left, must lose.
7 of 11: Therefore, if the game starts with 8 stones, you cannot win.
8 of 11: If the game starts with 9,10 or 11 stones, you remove 1,2 or 3 stones respectively -- leaving 8 on the table.
9 of 11: Depending on how many stones the alchemist now takes, you must leave 4 stones on the table after your next turn.
10 of 11: It now makes no difference how many stones the alchemist removes -- you will always be able to take the last stone/s.
11 of 11: After winning 4 games you will be rewarded.
