The Oasis

• 1 of 18: There are 4 houses at the Oasis.  Above the door to each house is a "triangle" that displays different symbols each time it is pushed.  You need to find the correct symbol to place above each door.
• 2 of 18: Each house has a number of protruding beams, which cast shadows of varying lengths.
• 3 of 18: As you enter the Oasis, one of the houses is directly in front of you.
• 4 of 18: The man outside this house tells you that the city is to the east.
• 5 of 18: You now know that this is the "east" house, and the others are north, west and south respectively.

• 6 of 18: Bearing the symbols in mind, what else happens in the east?
• 7 of 18: The sun rises!
• 8 of 18: Put another way, the sun replaces the moon, or "follows" it.
• 9 of 18: The "east" symbol therefore is MOON / SUN.
• 10 of 18: The same logic applies to the "west" house.
• 11 of 18: When the sun sets in the west, the moon replaces, or "follows" it.
• 12 of 18: The "west" symbol therefore is SUN / MOON.
• 13 of 18: What did you notice about the shadows at the east and west houses?
• 14 of 18: When the sun was rising, the shadows were short.
• 15 of 18: As the sun sets, and the moon appears, the shadows lengthen considerably.
• 16 of 18: Now have a look at the shadows being cast on the north and south houses.
• 17 of 18: The "north" house has short shadows on it -- so the "north" symbol must be SUN.
• 18 of 18: The "south" house has long shadows on it -- so the "south" symbol must be MOON.
