How do I work the water tank instruments?
of 13: First off, each tank has a readout panel with a large button you can press that's engraved with the tank's symbol.
of 13: The first instrument panel you'll come to is the one with the main tank's symbol on the button. Press it to learn there are 6,400 units of water currently in the main tank.
of 13: The only other tank you can find the panel for right off is tank 2 (the one with the symbol that has the middle vertical line colored blue). It has a slightly more detailed panel. Press its button to learn that tank 2 is empty.
of 13: Tank 2 also has a ladder you can climb up to find a hatch that leads into the tank. The hatch won't open because the tank isn't full enough for its floating bridge to be crossable.
of 13: So go find the water transfer controls in the side area between the two tank readout panels that you've found so far.
of 13: There's a red button connected to a green machine with an up arrow picture on a pipe leading out of it and down arrows on three pipes leading into it. However, this is just a sort of "reset" button, not the main controls.
of 13: Just past that is a large turnable distribution block next to a control panel with three parts: a lever, a display that lights up when you point at it, and a marker next to the numbers 0 thru 4 (this marker emphasizes once again that you only have four moves to get it right).
of 13: To transfer water from one tank to another, turn the distribution block so that it connects the symbols for the two tanks you want to transfer water between.
of 13: You can then point at the display on the control panel to see what proportion of water is going to be transferred.
of 13: Yank the lever to make it so. (Notice that the marker goes from 0 to 1, showing you that you've made one of four allowable transfers.)
of 13: The main tank is the only one that starts out with any water in it, so connect it up to tank 2 with the distribution block (note that this is the starting position of the block) and hit the lever. Then go check the two tank readout panels to see that water has indeed been transferred.
of 13: Your goal here is to transfer exactly enough water to each of the three smaller tanks to get their floating bridges up to where you can go through them all and reach the door to the main tank.
of 13: If you mess up and want to start over, just hit the red button next to the green machine with one up arrow and three down arrows. That'll move all the water back into the main tank no matter where it is, and will reset the moves counter on the main control panel.
