RHEM Hints

How can I open the "I" door in the building?

  • 1 of 18: Notice that it has a three-digit combination.
  • 2 of 18: What set of three things have you seen before that might have something to do with the "I" door?
  • 3 of 18: The thing you seek is outside of the complex itself (though it's connected up by a wire).
  • 4 of 18: Find the console with the "I" printed on it.
  • 5 of 18: To get to it, return to the Round Building and go out its upper west door.
  • 6 of 18: You'll soon come to a path split, the south branch of which leads to three consoles, including the one you seek.
  • 7 of 18: The only interactive part of the "I" console is the button-like lever that you can yank straight down to the bottom of its track.
  • 8 of 18: Do so, then watch as it slowly makes its way back up.
  • 9 of 18: Try it again to see if the sequence changes.
  • 10 of 18: Surprisingly enough, it does!
  • 11 of 18: Most puzzle-solving data in the game is nonrandom, but this isn't. The sequence of wedges you see will be different every time you yank the lever, and what was last seen is what's going to count towards opening the "I" door back in the radio complex.
  • 12 of 18: So get ready to quickly note down what wedges of the circles are white. Either draw three circles divided up into five equal slices on paper or print out the following graphic and use it.
  • 13 of 18: Yank the lever one more time, quickly mark which two wedges light up for each circle (be *sure* to do it in bottom-to-top order like the panel does), then save your game. Remember that your current notes will be worthless if you pull the button/lever again.
  • 14 of 18: Now you need to figure out how to translate your three wedge pics into numbers for the "I" door's combination.
  • 15 of 18: Another thing with an "I" mark on it holds the answer.
  • 16 of 18: Check out the "I" building in the generator complex. It has the decoding gimmick for this puzzle.
  • 17 of 18: Once you have a complete list of wedge shapes for the digits 0 to 9 (see link below), you can decode the wedges you noted down from the "I" console and go enter that code into the "I" door to open it.
  • 18 of 18: NOTE: Remember that the first wedge pattern shown by the "I" panel is the bottom one, and therefore translates into the bottom number on the "I" door's code panel. Things should work out if you noted down the wedge designs in bottom-to-top order as they were shown to you. (If you reversed them, then simply reverse the three-digit code they translate to. If you got 317 and it doesn't work, try 713.)
