RHEM Hints
How do I use all of the panels in the station to get the water flowing?
of 21: This one is a biggie. You start by visiting the reservoir and gathering some data about its four pumps.
of 21: For each pump, you need to have three numbers down. Also, you need to have the swirly symbols from the pump gauges and two telescopes noted down next to the numbers that came from those sources. Read the hints in the Reservoir section for further details.
of 21: That information is what you need to enter into the four panels in a row that are in the pump house.
of 21: Notice that each panel, once opened, has each of the three different swirly spiral patterns you saw at the reservoir.
of 21: Try clicking on the spirals.
of 21: Each time you click on one, the number to the right of it increments by one (up to 9, then it goes back to 0).
of 21: So use this method to enter the data you collected at the reservoir.
of 21: Unfortunately, there are two major problems. To start with, how do you know which panel goes with which pump? Neither pumps nor panels are labeled.
of 21: Also, the rightmost panel shows all X's instead of numbers, and pressing its spirals won't do anything.
of 21: In order to solve both of those problems, you need to go back up to the Door Complex. See its hint section for details on getting around up there.
of 21: In particular, find out how to open the door with the panel to the left of it and what good that does you.
of 21: Using the wheel down in the little secret compartment will fix the problem with the rightmost control panel, and the diagram down in that room will help you determine which pump goes to each of the four panels.
of 21: Compare the diagram with your map of the reservoir (or my Reservoir Map).
of 21: Pay no attention to the vertical positions of the pumps -- only horizontal.
of 21: The leftmost pump on the wall diagram will be the leftmost pump on your (or my) reservoir map.
of 21: So trace the pipe from the leftmost pump on the wall diagram to the picture of the pumping station on the far left. (Don't forget to take the close-up diagram's "twisty pipe" configuration into account.)
of 21: NOTE: The lowest pipe going into the pumping station on the diagram will correspond to the leftmost of the four panels as you face them.
of 21: If you need help correlating all of this confusing data, check out the following graphic I created. It has an annotated version of the wall diagram and my reservoir map in which I note down the symbols and numbers you need and label the pumps A thru D for cross-referencing purposes. (Each pump's data numbers are written in the order of the three symbols shown in the map key -- gauge reading first, east telescope second, and north telescope last.)
of 21: Once you have all that straight, you should be able to easily figure out exactly what numbers to put in each of the four panels. Remember to match up the symbols, as they're not in the same order in the panels as they are on my annotated reservoir map.
of 21: Here's the exact answer if you want to see it. Note that you could enter this answer at any time without going through all that other stuff (except turning the wheel in the secret compartment in the Door Complex -- that's essential).
of 21: Once you've got all those numbers entered, find the panel with the little indicator and the numbers 0 and 1 nearby. Press its big square button to get the water flowing and to raise the bridge that allows access to the Four Way Tower from the path east of it.
