2 of 10: It will give you a direct link between each of the five symbols and the type of tree that corresponds to each.
3 of 10: There is another way to solve the puzzle too -- closely examine each item in your inventory and you will find an Ogam character on it.
4 of 10: Check those Ogam symbols inside the book, and you will be able to find which tree each symbol matches.
