The list of pieces...

  • You start with three kinds of pieces.  If you want to experiment on your own with a chess board and some pieces, it will be helpful to you.

You have three pieces that I will call pawns, which can move one square in any direction.  These can only capture enemy pawns, though.  After taking an enemy pawn, they morph into a more powerful pawn (they look like apes with hammers) that can take any enemy piece.  Enemy pawns morph into a form like a dinosaur.

You also start with two pieces that I will call bishops.  These pieces will only become active when all of your pawns are dead.  Once active, they become much more powerful than pawns. They can then move two squares in any direction, along a row or a column or a diagonal, and take any piece.

You also have a piece that I will call a king.  It can only move one square in the way that a rook does, along a row or a column.  Also, this piece is bound to the first two rows.  If you lose this piece, you lose the game.  Taking the enemy king wins the game.  A draw (only two kings left) counts the same as a loss for you.
