Rise of the Triad: Dark War Hints
About this shareware version (The HUNT Begins)
There is, of course, a shareware version of Rise of the Triad (called The HUNT Begins). This is how the game was initially released. All of the bosses covered here are in Dark War: there are no bosses in The HUNT Begins. However, some of the enemies and weapons ARE in the shareware version. The text will say whether a weapon or enemy is the shareware version, so don't panic.
If you already own the registered CD-ROM Rise of the Triad, you may already have the shareware levels. It's a file called "HUNTBGIN.RTL". Choose this as an Alternate Game Level in the setup program, and play. These shareware levels are absent of the hilarious ending of the The HUNT Begins, though (the ending's the same as Dark War). So, to see the shareware ending, you'll have to install The HUNT Begins, which is located on the CD. You WILL be missing the extra weapons found only the registered version, however.
