Return to Mysterious Island Hints

Fuel

  • 1 of 9: The main fuel source for a fire is something a bit sturdier than timber -- something that will keep the fire going for a bit longer.
  • 2 of 9: A good hunk of wood will do.
  • 3 of 9: You can burn sticks, but they don't burn as long (or as hot), and you may need the sticks for other things later.
  • 4 of 9: There's some wood down on the beach, in the form of a rotting old hull from a small boat.
  • 5 of 9: Now if you could only retrieve a piece of it.
  • 6 of 9: It looks as though it is decayed enough that any kind of a sharp blow might break off a piece.
  • 7 of 9: The most likely candidate is the taller piece at what used to be the bow of the boat.
  • 8 of 9: Take the large piece of wood, and use it with the other items to create a "ready-made fire".
  • 9 of 9: Later in the game, after Mina has left the beach and begun exploring the rest of the island, you will also find other sources of fuel, typically in the form of logs or other wood.
