Return to Mysterious Island Hints

Fire

  • 1 of 8: As in real life, fires can be started in a number of ways, with different materials.
  • 2 of 8: The basic principal is to require three elements: a fire source, some kind of tinder (to catch fire quickly), and a source of fuel (to burn for a longer time).
  • 3 of 8: There are several fire sources that can be discovered in the game.
  • 4 of 8: The second element necessary to creating a good fire is tinder, to get it started.  There are several things that can be found on the island, which make good tinder.
  • 5 of 8: Among the list is paper, amadou, lichen (the last two of which can be found growing on rocky, wet areas, such as the stone archway on the beach)
  • 6 of 8: Finally, to burn hot and long, a good fire needs a good fuel source.  The items most commonly found in the game include logs, planks, coal, palm branches, sticks
  • 7 of 8: Combine all three items (source, tinder, fuel) in the inventory combining tray to get a "ready-made fire".
  • 8 of 8: The last thing necessary is someplace to locate the fire.  You'll need to find an appropriate spot to place your "ready-made fire".
