Return to Mysterious Island Hints
Where can I find some existing gunpowder?
of 10: If Captain Nemo had cannons around, chances are he would have some gunpowder handy, as well.
of 10: Check carefully around the various rooms of Granite House.
of 10: Particularly near the old cannons.
of 10: A barrel of powder can be found to the right of the cannon by the window, but it's caked and hardened with age.
of 10: Gunpowder is not impervious to moisture. Over time, it will tend to "cake", and become hardened, requiring it to be broken apart again.
of 10: If your powder is hardened, you'll need to find some way to break it down into a finer "powder" form.
of 10: You want to be careful, and not just hammer away at it, either.
of 10: There's something on the island that should be able to help you.
of 10: The windmill on the island was actually used to grind grain. Perhaps it could help.
of 10: Take your hardened powder to the windmill, and pour it into the receptacle. Refined powder will pour out, and you can then use that as an explosive.
