Runaway: A Road Adventure Hints

How do I get the train going?

  • 1 of 17: First of all, you're going to need some fuel to burn.
  • 2 of 17: Climb into the driver's cab of the train, and use the five logs with the boiler.
  • 3 of 17: Next, you need some water to put in the boiler.
  • 4 of 17: There's a water dispense in Saturn's studio.
  • 5 of 17: Now, you just need something to put the water in.
  • 6 of 17: You should be able to find something that could hold a lot of liquid somewhere in the area.
  • 7 of 17: There's an oil can on the ground near the abandoned mine.
  • 8 of 17: Take the oil can and use it with the water cooler.
  • 9 of 17: Use the can of water with the opening in the middle of the train engine.
  • 10 of 17: One can of water isn't enough to achieve your goal, though.
  • 11 of 17: Unfortunately, you need to fill the can and pour it into the boiler a total of five times (tedious, I know).  You'll know the boiler is full when Brian refuses to add any more.
  • 12 of 17: Now, you just need a source of fire to light your fuel.
  • 13 of 17: Use the blowtorch with the boiler.  (Note: you will only be able to do this once you've filled the boiler with wood and the train opening with water.)
  • 14 of 17: Finally, you just need to operate the train's controls.
  • 15 of 17: Examine all the controls in the driver's cab.  Brian will tell you which control does which.  You should be able to figure out what to do to get the boiler going from these descriptions.
  • 16 of 17: Turn the wheel at the top to increase boiler pressure.
  • 17 of 17: Pull the lever beneath it to activate the steam outlet.  Notice the key that pops out.
