So ... what's going on now?
It's a little hard to figure out, but in the walled-off basement alcove discovered at the end of the last episode, the boys discovered two skeletons that looked remarkably like them. Sam now says they're the skeletons of their great-grandfathers, Sameth and Maximus. They find an enchanted movie projector and some film reels, and when they play one of the reels, they're drawn into the action, reenacting the adventures of their grandfathers in 1901. Clear as mud?
