Sam & Max: Season 3 Hints
How do I get hints inside the game?
As with the other Sam & Max games, if you do nothing at all for a while, Sam or Max will say something apparently random but actually giving you a vague hint about where you should go next. (For example, if there's a major unsolved problem in the diner, Sam might say something about being hungry.) You can change the frequency of these comments in the game's Settings menu.
You can talk to Max whenever you like by clicking on him, and he usually has a "What do I do now?" option. This will give you a very broad goal to be striven for, which often isn't that useful. If you forget what your general goal is, try reading the notebook instead.
In addition, Max's psychic powers can be helpful. If you have access to Future Vision (the View Master), you can use it to get enigmatic glimpses of the future. Sometimes you'll see how the solution to the problem you're working on (though not necessarily how to get there), and sometimes you'll see something ominous you want to avoid. And Mind Reading (the pack of cards) will sometimes tell you an important fact your suspect doesn't want to tell you.
