Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Hints

An alarm sounded when I left the vault!

  • 1 of 12: The vault door is rigged so that you will put the entire bank on full alert the instant you leave with the money bonds. (And yes, the game will count this against you in the final mission rating, making 85% the best score you can make.)
  • 2 of 12: I sure hope you knocked out every guard on the ground floor, or they'll come running and gunning as soon as the alarm goes off.
  • 3 of 12: TIP: If you have to deal with any guards now, retreat into the vault and use its computer to turn off the lights and activate the sprinklers.
  • 4 of 12: Actually, there are a couple of ways to avoid setting off the alarm as you leave the vault with the bonds.
  • 5 of 12: How did you get past those laser alerts at the top of the stairs on the second floor?
  • 6 of 12: That's right! You can use one of those guards' bodies from the two laser beam rooms if you drag it all the way down here.
  • 7 of 12: Or actually, you can use any guard's body, including those from the security booth near the vault entrance.
  • 8 of 12: However, that's a lot more trouble than the following method, and is furthermore impossible if you've already picked up the government bonds.
  • 9 of 12: After getting the bonds, approach the door slowly with thermal vision on.
  • 10 of 12: You see that laser beam going across the middle of the doorway? It's what sets off the alarm when you go through it.
  • 11 of 12: Examine the two ends of the beam to find the two small black emitters that power it.
  • 12 of 12: Hit one of those with the OCP to temporarily shut off the laser beam, then leave the vault before it comes back on.
