Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Hints
How can I get up to the apartment building's roof?
of 10: Once you're inside the building, explore around to see what (and who) is there.
of 10: You'll find a technician working on an elevator, plus a guard patrolling around the few accessible corridors.
of 10: TIP: If you dispose of the guard or sneak past him, you can get a flash grenade from a table in a small side room.
of 10: The simplest way of dealing with the elevator problem is to wait until the technician fixes the elevator and walks off, then go up to it and call it. Enter and use the inside panel to move up to the top floor.
of 10: Or you can wait for the tech to go for his toolbox, then sneak carefully into the elevator while he's got his back turned.
of 10: Once inside, jump up to its open ceiling hatch. Shimmy to the left a little if necessary and then climb up onto the elevator car's roof.
of 10: From there, you can start climbing the loooong ladder that leads up to the top floor. The technician will fix the elevator and test it out while you're doing this, so be looking down as you climb and hit the Crouch key when the elevator is almost upon you.
of 10: Once it stops at the top, drop down into the elevator car (it's empty) and use the panel if necessary to open the doors so you can exit.
of 10: However you get to the top floor, you'll have one more guardsman to deal with before you can reach the roof. Be sure to use the thermal goggles to see if he's near the elevator door before you go through it. If he is, wait until he walks off.
of 10: When the guard isn't nearby, use the OCP on the overhead light as soon as you exit the elevator, then use the cover of darkness to sneak over to the stairs and go up them to the door that leads onto the roof. (To be safe, use the OCP on every light as you approach it, including the EXIT sign above the door.)
