Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Hints
I'm stuck on the roof! Where do I go from here?
of 16: Have you scouted out the area for possible exits?
of 16: That "Authorized Personnel Only" door is no good.
of 16: Look in the center of the area, keeping in mind that you don't always enter buildings through doors.
of 16: There's an active ventilation fan covered by a locked trap door on that large raised area in the center. You can get up onto it by using the little stairs in one corner or by mantling up onto it from any side.
of 16: Of course, there's no way you'll even be able to try to get down that vent shaft while the fan is still running -- the game won't even let you lockpick the trap door yet.
of 16: Go check out the little fenced-in room that the two guards start out in (and that one stays in unless you're detected).
of 16: It's probably a control room, so sneak in there and take control.
of 16: The best way is to climb over the fence near its left end, away from those pesky lights.
of 16: While the guy inside the fence has his back turned, sneak over to the machine that's approximately in the middle and use its switch to turn off the fan. This also turns off the lights in the fan's shaft, and that will be noticed.
of 16: When it's safe, sneak back over the fence and approach the fan shaft from a direction that gives you a good cover of darkness.
of 16: It's fairly simple to get up on the shaft structure and pick the trap door's lock undetected, but be careful opening it -- that will be noticed sooner or later by the patrolling guard.
of 16: So what you do is open the trap door and then hide somewhere safe as the guard investigates it. He'll leave it open and won't be concerned about it anymore.
of 16: After he's back on patrol, move around next to the short metal pole that's near the opening until you get the option to rappel down the shaft.
of 16: Do so, then crouch down and move into the opening at the bottom.
of 16: Moving through the vent shafts, you'll soon come across a trap door leading down into a meeting room.
of 16: You have to go this way, but do wait until the meeting is over and everyone leaves the room before you open the trap door and drop down.
