Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Hints

How can I hack the bank computers?

  • 1 of 8: To start with, either walk up to the computer screen so that you can use it with the Interaction key, or stand where you have line-of-sight with the computer itself (not its screen) and use the EEV zoom.
  • 2 of 8: NOTE: Using the EEV to hack from a distance can be helpful if approaching the computer would get you seen by guards or cameras, but you'll get less time to get the code right. Only do it this way if you have to for some reason.
  • 3 of 8: When you click on "security access" to start a hack (or choose to hack a hackable device other than a computer), you have a limited time to figure out the four-number code to enter. A list of possible four-number codes that includes the right one appears on the left half of the screen, and a four-number display appears on the bottom right.
  • 4 of 8: One way to successfully hack in is to see which numbers on the bottom-right display light up, and once you know all four of them in order, click on that series of numbers in the list on the left.
  • 5 of 8: But the best way is to click on the numbers on the bottom-right display as they're highlighted. If you click on one that isn't highlighted, it's not instant-alarm time, but you can only click over there so many times (shown by the number to the right of the display), so be careful about that. If you use up all your clicks, you'll have to either abort (via the crouch key) or choose one of the possibilities from the list on the left.
  • 6 of 8: NOTE: If you abort a hack for any reason, you won't get quite as many clicks the second time you try, so you may want to save before each hack attempt and restore your save if you fail.
  • 7 of 8: TIP: As you're clicking on numbers, keep an eye on the list of possibilities to the left. Sometimes there's only one possibility left after you lock down only one or two numbers, so it's much faster to just click on the combo than wait for the numbers to light up.
  • 8 of 8: Always save your game right before trying, then keep trying until you get it. This is especially helpful if you're forced to hack via EEV, since you'll have less time.
