Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Hints
How can I take down or sneak past the guards in the shower room?
of 12: There's no way you're just sneaking past, even if you carefully shoot out the room's lights -- they're watching every path to the exit, and their night vision is on. (You can see it as red light similar to the UAVs' spotlights in the previous mission.)
of 12: Also note that these guys are wearing gas masks, so gas grenades and sticky cameras can't be used to knock them out.
of 12: If you have at least three sticky shockers left, it's fairly easy to shoot them in rapid succession from a good vantage point so that they don't attack or spot each other's bodies. (At least, that's easy on Normal difficulty.)
of 12: The only way I found that worked reliably on both Normal and Expert difficulty is to use smoke grenades to obscure your movements through the room. No matter what loadout you chose at the beginning of the mission, you should have gotten at least two smoke grenades. I hope you have some left!
of 12: After saving your game, sneak up next to the doorway leading into the shower room and toss a smoke grenade so that it lands on the floor a ways to the right of the nearest tiled pillar.
of 12: That should make it easy to crouch-run through the door and up behind the first pillar on the right side of the room.
of 12: Once the smoke clears and you've waited a couple of minutes to be sure the soldiers won't spot you where you're standing, save your game and ready your second smoke grenade for throwing.
of 12: NOTE: If you're on Normal difficulty, you can sneak over to the first pillar via the tiled wall with the long hand rail on it without using a smoke grenade. However, that's a bit harder to do unseen, and you won't need any more smoke grenades after you're past this room.
of 12: Toss the second smoke grenade so that it lands near the back of the wooden board floor section that's near the exit door. After the smoke gets going, you should be able to uncrouch and just run straight out the door without being detected. If you're seen, try again.
of 12: TIP: If that keeps failing, try varying the landing position of the smoke grenade a little. Also, if the grenade doesn't land quite close enough to the exit door, you might still make it if you do a rolling maneuver as you're nearing the door.
of 12: As soon as you're past the door, stop running and start sneaking. You don't want those guys to hear you and give chase, and you don't want to get blown up by the wall mine that's around the corner.
of 12: As soon as you disable that wall mine, save your game in a named slot and don't overwrite it. You won't *believe* what you have to go through once you enter the furnace room.
