Schizm Hints

Saving games

  • Saving games in Schizm can be quite helpful to gameplay.  While there is no abnormal termination of the game (e.g., "getting killed"), there may be many times that you would like to return to a particular point, and having it saved can facilitate that.

As a result, you should save games whenever you are about to enter a new area or try something that could have unknown results. The number of games that can be saved at any one time is 16.

As a side note, if you wish to have more than 16 saved games, you can always "back up" the saved-game files, and restore them later.  All saved-game files are stored in the same folder where you installed Schizm, and are named "Schizm.s'nn'", where 'nn' is a two-digit number from '00' to '16'.  To retain older saved-game files, while re-using the 16 "current" saved-game files, simply backup these files to another location.  You can either copy the files directly to another folder, or compress them into an archive, such as a ZIP file.  Then continue playing the game, overwriting the previous 16 saved games.

At a later point, should it become necessary to restore one of the earlier saved games, simply repeat the procedure to save the CURRENT saved-game files -- perhaps to a different folder, or another ZIP file -- and then restore the original saved-game files to the Schizm folder.  Then, when you go to the Load screen, you will see your original saved games, and you can proceed from there.
