Schizm Hints

I'm still stuck; tell me what to do.

  • 1 of 23: Let's take the tablet that you found in the tulips.  Ignore the crossed-out symbols on the top half of the tablet, because those are "old" coordinates, which no longer work.  We will use the bottom set of coordinates.
  • 2 of 23: Note that each set of coordinates is 4 characters long, beginning with one of two symbols (one of which looks not unlike a script "F", and the other somewhat like a script "L").
  • 3 of 23: Those are the same symbols located at the center of the left and right control panels of the navigation console.
  • 4 of 23: Using those symbols, we can determine which set of coordinates should be entered on which panel.
  • 5 of 23: Looking at the left control panel first, notice that there are three concentric dials, with twelve positions around each dial -- much as in the face of a clock.
  • 6 of 23: Matching the symbol in the center of this panel with one of the sets of coordinates on the tablet, now locate the other three symbols around the outermost ring.  You should see that the symbols are in positions 7, 8, and 10 (numbering as on a clock face).
  • 7 of 23: The symbols that all three dials have in common are very similar, except for the number of dots on the right side of each symbol.  The ones on the outer ring have a single dot on their right sides, the corresponding ones on the middle ring have two dots, and the corresponding ones in the center ring have three dots.  This helps you tell the proper order in which to place the symbols.
  • 8 of 23: Use the three symbols from the tablets, and click on their positions on the console, starting from the outer ring.
  • 9 of 23: That is, click on the "7" position on the outer ring.  It will turn green.
  • 10 of 23: Then click on the "8" position on the middle ring.  It will also turn green.
  • 11 of 23: Finally, click on the "10" position on the inner ring.  It, too, will turn green.
  • 12 of 23: The left control panel has now been set.
  • 13 of 23: Move to the right control panel.  Note the symbol in the center of the panel, and match it to the other set of coordinates on the tablet.
  • 14 of 23: Using the same approach as before, you should be able to determine that the three remaining symbols on the tablet are located in positions 9, 2, and 9.
  • 15 of 23: Working from the outer ring in, click on the "9" position, the "2" position, and the "9" position.
  • 16 of 23: The right panel is now set.
  • 17 of 23: Move to the center part of the navigation control (where the handprint is located).
  • 18 of 23: Click on the handprint to "use" the navigation coordinates that you just entered.
  • 19 of 23: If nothing happens (CD-ROM version), or you are transported to the "middle of nowhere" (DVD version), you probably entered the coordinates incorrectly.  Go back to the navigation console and try again.
  • 20 of 23: If the coordinates were entered correctly, one of the lights underneath the handprint should now glow green.
  • 21 of 23: If set properly, you should be transported to the area of the game known as Bosh's Tunnels (using the above example).
  • 22 of 23: Later in the game, when you want to "reset" the coordinates to the same ones you just used, you can simply click on the green bulb, and they will be set automatically, rather than requiring you to enter them again.
  • 23 of 23: In case you're wondering about the tablet you may have found above the tulip puzzle, that just contains the coordinates back to the Living Ship islands where you started.  Those are already set in the console, in the first green bulb, so you won't need to re-enter them later.
