Schizm Hints
How do I know which keys to type?
of 13: Have you seen the symbols on the keys somewhere else?
of 13: These symbols are identical to the ones on the wheel at the start of Sam's game (in the Balloon Field).
of 13: Listen to the sounds generated by each of those symbols.
of 13: You will also need information from Charles Santo in the jail on Matia's Island.
of 13: That information will not be forthcoming until after several other puzzles have been solved.
of 13: Revisit Santo -- he will tell you something about "ossa" and "dissa" -- West, and Northeast
of 13: Those are the sounds you need to listen for on the wheel.
of 13: If you did not make careful notes earlier, while working on the wheel puzzle at the start of Sam's game, you may have to return there now. (Or if you don't want to walk back there, just read ahead in the hints and we'll tell you.)
of 13: Replay all of the sounds on the wheel, and listen for "ossa" and "dissa".
of 13: The two symbols that match those two sounds are the symbols you will need to enter on the mechanical computer's keyboard.
of 13: The first looks like two curved strokes upward and to the right (ossa); the second looks like a lower-case 'f' (dissa). The symbols are at approximately the one o'clock and five o'clock positions on the wheel.
of 13: On the keyboard itself, the keys for these two symbols -- which must be pressed in order -- are the keys with the symbol that looks a bit like two curves upward and to the right, and the key with the symbol that looks similar to a lower-case 'f'.
of 13: Or, counting only the eight keys with yellow symbols on them, the "ossa" key is third from the left, and the "dissa" key is the seventh from the left.
