Scratches Hints

How can I refill the lamp?

  • 1 of 12: Have you located anything that could provide fuel for the lamp?  Hint: You cannot use the oil can that you used on the wheels of the cabinet.
  • 2 of 12: However, there is a different fuel available from the same shelf where you found the oil can.
  • 3 of 12: Go back upstairs to the room with the paintings (the door located behind the attic stairs).  Go through this room to the adjacent one.  Climb up the ladder to look at the shelf.
  • 4 of 12: There are several items -- including a can that is very dirty.
  • 5 of 12: You won't be able to make use of the can, or its contents, unless you can identify exactly what the can contains.
  • 6 of 12: Perhaps you can think of a way to clean the dirty can.
  • 7 of 12: Use the rag.
  • 8 of 12: Once the can is clean, it is possible to see that it contains motor oil.  Now if you could only figure out how to get some oil out of the can.  You won't be able to pick up the can to pour it out.
  • 9 of 12: You won't be able to pour out any oil from the can unless you are willing to damage the can.
  • 10 of 12: Think of a way to poke a hole through the can in order to drain some of the oil out.
  • 11 of 12: Use the boring tool on the motor oil can...
  • 12 of 12: ...then use the lamp on the can to fill it.
