Sentinel: Descendants in Time Hints

How do I solve the maze of doors?

  • 1 of 18: As you pass through the door that is opened by solving the final golden puzzle grid, you will be met by another door.  Open that door by clicking on it.
  • 2 of 18: Move forward from room to room, going up (or down) stairs as necessary, moving around corners, and searching for the next door.
  • 3 of 18: Click on each door, as soon as you are near enough for the cursor to change to the "active" cursor (white dot inside white circle).
  • 4 of 18: As with all other puzzles in Argannas so far, the solution requires the matching of sounds, the association of glyphs, and the ordering of the glyphs.
  • 5 of 18: And also, as with the others, this puzzle is randomly generated each time you play a new game, so there is no single solution.  The following hints provide information on the process of solving the puzzle, regardless of the final solution.
  • 6 of 18: The association of glyphs to doors is simple, since each door is marked with a metal plaque containing one of the (by now well-known) glyphs.
  • 7 of 18: The sounds for this puzzle should be obvious.
  • 8 of 18: They are the sounds made as each door opens (or closes).
  • 9 of 18: Listen for key elements, such as whether or not there is a "latch click" on the open or close, whether the squeak is ascending or descending in tone, etc.
  • 10 of 18: In the earlier puzzles, part of the difficult was in finding two (or more) sounds that matched.  However, as the puzzles in Argannas have progressed, there have been more and more sound matches (i.e., more and more glyphs associated with the next golden puzzle grid).
  • 11 of 18: In the case of the maze of doors, there are so many that are alike, that it may just be easier to locate the few that are different.
  • 12 of 18: A word of caution: be sure that you have explored the maze completely to its end.
  • 13 of 18: It does not end when you find the golden puzzle grid.  There are more doors beyond that.
  • 14 of 18: You should encounter a total of nine doors, complete with glyph plaques and door-opening sounds.
  • 15 of 18: There is no visual ordering information (such as the multi-sided posts, or knotted ropes, in the earlier puzzles).
  • 16 of 18: As a result, the "order" of glyphs -- much like the staircase puzzle -- is simply the order in which they were encountered -- front to back.
  • 17 of 18: Thus, the correct sequence of buttons to press on the golden puzzle grid is the icons in the order listed above.
  • 18 of 18: I know the answer, but can't find the puzzle grid.
