How do I solve the puzzle with the 3 flowers?

  • 1 of 13: Did you notice the three levers near the bottom of each flower?
  • 2 of 13: Pulling the lever will stop the rotation of the flower.  Can you think of a reason why you would want to do that?
  • 3 of 13: Did you notice the three wheels inside the room?  There are eight buttons around the outside of each wheel, plus a pattern detailed on its surface.
  • 4 of 13: Hmm... three wheels and three flowers.
  • 5 of 13: Each of the wheels has a very specific pattern detailed on its surface.  And each flower has a very specific changing set of patterns detailed in its center.
  • 6 of 13: Each of the three pattern wheels can match one possible set of patterns from one flower.  If you have stopped one or more flowers from spinning, you may need to use the lever to restart the flower again in order to see the various patterns.
  • 7 of 13: To determine which wheel will match up with each flower, start by studying one of the pattern sets from one wheel, then go around to each of the flowers, studying the patterns as they appear and change, until you find a pattern that matches the wheel you studied.
  • 8 of 13: When you have a match between one flower and the pattern from one wheel, click on the lever (near the bottom of the flower) to go into a close-up of the flower.  Study the changing patterns until you see the pattern that matches the wheel.  Pull the lever just before the pattern reaches the outer edge of the flower.  (If you wait too long to pull the lever, the pattern will scroll off the flower and you will need to restart the flower and try again.)
  • 9 of 13: Okay, you should now have three flowers stopped in three very specific positions, and three wheels with buttons around the outside.
  • 10 of 13: Did you notice that there are eight petals on each flower and eight buttons?  What a coincidence!
  • 11 of 13: Look at each flower carefully to see if you can figure out anything that could be significant to the buttons.
  • 12 of 13: There are two flower petal shapes -- long, narrow (and more pinkish); and short, thicker (and more greenish).
  • 13 of 13: Make note of the positions of long and short petals.  These positions will help you determine which buttons to press in around each of the matching wheels.  If the petal is short, the button (on the matching flower) should be pressed in; and if the petal is long, the button should be left out.
