Sentinel: Descendants in Time Hints

How do I know which button rotates which section?

  • 1 of 15: Did you find any kind of unique identification on the buttons on the pyramid?
  • 2 of 15: Each button has a unique symbol above it.
  • 3 of 15: You're going to want to make note of those symbols -- because they're going to provide the link between the actual walkway section, and the button to use to rotate that section.
  • 4 of 15: So then, how can we determine which section matches which button?
  • 5 of 15: Walk out to any of the walkway areas.  Have you looked through the telescopes yet?
  • 6 of 15: In addition to being able to see the "umbrella stands" a little more closely, what else can you see?
  • 7 of 15: It seems that every section of walkway has a "flag" of some sort, on a thin pole; and each flag has a unique symbol on it...
  • 8 of 15: ... which just happens to match one of the symbols on the pyramid!
  • 9 of 15: That's the giveaway to matching the sections to the buttons.
  • 10 of 15: Try an experiment.  Go to any of the walkway areas, and walk out as far as you can.  (If the walkway isn't connected to land at all, you won't be able to go beyond the edge of the island.  If the walkway is already connected for a short distance, you can walk out one or more sections.)
  • 11 of 15: As you go as far as you can, take note of the first section that you WANT to go to, but can't, because it isn't connected to your walkway.
  • 12 of 15: Now determine which section has to rotate, to bring the pieces together in a way that will let you walk out further.  (For example, if no section is touching the land, you will want to rotate the very first section so that one of its sides touches land.  And depending on which way you want it to end up facing once it does, you may have to rotate it more than once.)
  • 13 of 15: Look at the flag on the section you want to rotate, and note the symbol there.
  • 14 of 15: (After a while, the symbols will get easier to recognize, since there are only 5 different symbols used for the "middles" -- hexagon, triangle, circle, square, and star -- and the outside is part, or all, of an outer circle -- either a quarter circle, a half circle, or a full circle.)
  • 15 of 15: Once you know the symbol associated with the section you want to rotate, match that symbol with one of the buttons on the pyramid in the tower.  That will be the button that controls (rotates) that section of walkway.
