Specifics
You can only get this ending if you've played both scenarios through to the ending. When you start the main scenario again, you'll be looking for four ritualistic items that weren't there the last time. They are:
-- White Chrism -- Blue Creek Apartments, Apartment 105, on the kitchen counter
-- Book Of Lost Memories -- Texxon Gas Station, in open newsstand
-- Obsidian Chalice -- Silent Hill Historical Society, in shattered display case
-- Crimson Ceremony book -- Reverse Lakeview Hotel, second floor, reading room (shelf opposite window)
But DON'T pick up the dog key (across from the park after you meet Maria for the first time). This supposedly derails the Rebirth ending.
Once you have these four items, look at them in inventory, then ignore them. After you finish the game, James will do whatever needs to be done by himself.
