The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints

How can I solve the box-opening puzzle?

  • 1 of 11: First, click on the two pieces of paper that you're given to see what's on them.
  • 2 of 11: Notice that you can bring up both pieces of paper at the same time, and that the blank-looking one will always be on top.
  • 3 of 11: Pick up the magnifying glass and examine the blank paper to find that it has several small holes in it.
  • 4 of 11: There are four holes in all, one of which is over near the left edge of the paper.
  • 5 of 11: Clicking the magnifying glass on them doesn't do anything useful, so try using your other tool on them.
  • 6 of 11: Put the magnifying glass down and pick up the paper knife, then try using its tip on one of the holes.
  • 7 of 11: That'll tear the hole open far enough to see one or two letters on the other paper through it.
  • 8 of 11: Do that to all four holes, then see what they reveal.
  • 9 of 11: You'll see the letters H, S, Ca, and Br. Those look like chemical abbreviations!
  • 10 of 11: Right-click until everything is out of the way, then try clicking on the box's H, S, Ca, and Br tiles.
  • 11 of 11: After you select those four tiles (in any order), the box will open.
