How many criminals were there?
1 of 6: Examining all six of the footprints with the magnifying glass, you'll see that most of them are from hobnail boots like laborers wear.
2 of 6: There's one print from a pair of well-worn shoes, plus one that's from an expensive pair of shoes, and that looks more recent than the others.
3 of 6: Use the tape measure on all four of the hobnail boot prints to find that they're not all the same size.
4 of 6: From that, you can deduce that two different criminals came in wearing hobnail boots.
5 of 6: It's reasonable to assume that the well-worn shoes were also worn by a criminal, and that the expensive shoes were not.
