The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints

How does the paper reassembly puzzle work?

  • 1 of 7: The reassembled paper will fit exactly within the frame you're given, and all sixteen of the nearly identical pieces of torn paper are shown in miniature along the frame's right side.
  • 2 of 7: To see a piece more clearly, pick it up and place it anywhere inside the frame.
  • 3 of 7: To make things even more complicated, each piece of paper can be rotated once it's placed in the frame. To do that, point at the piece to get an arrow to appear on it, then click on the arrow once for each rotation you want.
  • 4 of 7: If you put a piece in the frame to examine it and then decide you don't want to mess with it yet, you can pick it up and place it back along the right side of the screen.
  • 5 of 7: Note that when you place a piece in the frame, it will "jump" into the nearest slot. That will help somewhat in figuring out where to place each piece.
  • 6 of 7: Also note that hitting the puzzle's "Reset" button will not only put all the pieces back on the right side of the screen, but it'll also randomize their exact positions and rotations. Only use the "Reset" button if you ever get hopelessly stuck, and are hoping that the randomizing will help.
  • 7 of 7: To solve the puzzle, all sixteen pieces have to be put in the correct place and set to the correct rotation.
