The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints

How can I solve the paper reassembly puzzle?

  • 1 of 6: You could think of it as a jigsaw puzzle, and try applying the standard jigsaw solution strategy to it.
  • 2 of 6: The first step in that strategy is to find all four of the corner pieces. Unfortunately, even that can be difficult with this puzzle due to the aggravating uniformity of all the pieces' shapes.
  • 3 of 6: It's also very hard to figure out which corner each of the corner pieces goes into since there's no picture or design that you're trying to make. The paper is completely blank, with only a few creases and stains to provide a bit of variation among the pieces.
  • 4 of 6: You may find that the best way to proceed is to match up the torn edges of pieces to see what goes next to each other. At least the puzzle makes it easy to see when you've gotten that right.
  • 5 of 6: Another thing that might help is to know that the two pieces with the paper-airplane-shaped creases in them go in the bottom right corner of the finished puzzle. Also, most of the stains go to the left of that, on the third  and fourth "rows" of the puzzle.
  • 6 of 6: Below is a full-sized screenshot of the completed puzzle that will hopefully help you in placing the pieces.
