The Testament of Sherlock Holmes Hints

How can I solve the knight-moving puzzle?

  • 1 of 7: Start by moving the knight around randomly to see how you do. You can always hit the "Replay" button to start over whenever you get stuck or want to try something different.
  • 2 of 7: The knight's L-shaped movement pattern is conducive to a sort of circular or "spiral" type of design.
  • 3 of 7: One strategy is to move the knight around the board in a circular pattern, staying as close to the edges as possible.
  • 4 of 7: For instance, your first move could be to the square that's two spaces to the right and one space down from the starting position. You'd then move to the top right corner of the board.
  • 5 of 7: From there, you'd move to the square that's two spaces down and one space to the left, and then move to the bottom right corner of the board.
  • 6 of 7: After that, move two squares over and one up, then move to the bottom left corner of the board.
  • 7 of 7: Keep going around the board like that, and you should eventually end up finishing the puzzle by landing in the middle square. (Note that some solution methods can end up on different squares, but this "spiral pattern" solution will always move inward to the middle square.)
