How can I figure out the fourth dial's number?
1 of 9: With these clue numbers, we're back to looking at rows and columns.
2 of 9: Examine the two complete rows and the two complete columns to see if you can find a pattern in either set.
3 of 9: It turns out to be the rows that you need to analyze this time.
4 of 9: In particular, calculate the difference between the three numbers in each row.
5 of 9: On the top row, you have 10, 8, and 6. That's a number sequence where you start with 10 and subtract 2 each time.
6 of 9: On the middle row, you have 3, 7, and 11. That a sequence that starts with a 3 and adds 4 each time.
7 of 9: The bottom row has 2, blank, and 4. Since 4 is larger than 2, this row uses addition rather than subtraction.
8 of 9: Since there's only one integer between 2 and 4, you clearly need to add 1 each time.
9 of 9: That means the missing number is 2 + 1 = 3. Set the fourth dial to 3.
