Silent Hill 3 Hints
Easy
of 18: You need a number combination to get past the door. Check the area around the door for a hint.
of 18: There's a memo on a bulletin board near the door. Read it. It reads:
of 18: "Press, move 2 right, press, move 1 up, press, move 2 down, press and the door shall open."
of 18: Look at the poem and compare what it says to the keypad. Visualize the instructions it gives.
of 18: Start with the first line. It starts with "Press." Press what? You have to press a button from which you can move 2 right...
of 18: Meaning that the first number has to be in the leftmost column (in order for you to be able to move two buttons over since the keypad has only three columns).
of 18: Therefore, the first number is 1, 4, or 7, and the second number is 3, 6, or 9.
of 18: That's all you can get out of the first line. Now, onto the second. You have to be able to move 1 up, meaning...
of 18: The second number can't be in the top row, or you can't move up at all. That means...
of 18: 1 can't be the first digit and 3 can't be the second digit.
of 18: Ok, on to the third line. You have to be able to move 2 down, meaning...
of 18: The third number has to be in the top row of the pad, or you can't move down 2. So...
of 18: There's only one way in which you can perform all of these movements. Review what you already know...
of 18: The first number's in the left column. Move right 2. The second number is in the second or third rows. Move up 1. The third number is in the top row. Move down 2. The fourth number is in the bottom row.
of 18: Okay, there's only one way. For the third number to be in the top row (after moving up one), the second number must be in the middle row. You get the second number after moving right from the second row, so the first and second numbers are on the same row.
of 18: Still with me? Let's continue...
of 18: The first number is, therefore, in the left column AND the middle row. Press. The first number is 4. Move right two. Press. The second number is 6. Move up one. Press. The third number is 3. Move down two. Press. The fourth number is 9.
of 18: The correct combination is 4 -- 6 -- 3 -- 9.
