1 of 17: Examine the child's room carefully. There's a hint nearby.
2 of 17: Examine the sketchbook on the bed. It contains your hint.
3 of 17: Read the hint and think about it for a bit. According to the first stanza, there's "something in each row," meaning at least one card in each of the three rows of the 3x3 box on the door, but also, "three would be too hard to fit." There's also a maximum of two per row.
4 of 17: The rest of the poem explains where the cards should be placed. Examine the poem carefully.
5 of 17: The 2nd stanza is about an "upside-down man" that's underground. Examine the tarot cards to find him.
6 of 17: It's the Hanged Man. Examining the rest of the poem, you'll find references to both underground and the sky. Where could they be on the 3x3 grid?
7 of 17: Underground is the bottom row, ground is the middle, and the sky is the top. Therefore, the Hanged Man belongs in the bottom row, with "no one around" to his right and left.
8 of 17: He's in the middle of the bottom row.
9 of 17: Next is the Moon card. It's in the sky (the top row), sitting on top of a "crazy clown." Who could that "clown" be?
10 of 17: The clown is the Fool card. Make note that the Moon is directly above the Fool, meaning the Fool is in the middle row.
11 of 17: Next is "your excellency," the Priestess card. She's looking up at the night sky, meaning she must be...
12 of 17: On the ground (middle row), and the night sky is the...
13 of 17: Eye of Night card. The Eye of Night is above the Priestess. But in what column?
14 of 17: The poem says that the "hateful...thing in the night...is not on your right!" So the Eye of Night is on the left side.
15 of 17: Try any variations of card placements that meet the following clues: The Hanged Man is in the middle column of the bottom row. The Moon is in the top row, directly above the Fool, which is in the middle row. The Priestess is in the middle row, directly below the Eye of Night. The Eye of Night is in the left column.
