The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles Hints
Dawnfang/Duskfang Info
The sword will be Dawnfang from 6 am until 6 pm, and Duskfang the rest of the time. When it switches, the current version is taken out of your inventory, and the new version is put in. This can wreak havoc with your hotkey assignments if you try to hotkey the sword -- you'll have to re-hotkey it every time it switches forms. However, it'll be fully repaired and recharged, which is nice.
The swords' starting damage enchantment is leveled, and I list the various strengths below.
Level Dawnfang Enchantment Duskfang Enchantment ---------------------------------------------------------- 1-4 Fire Damage 3 points Frost Damage 3 points 5-9 Fire Damage 5 points Frost Damage 5 points 10-14 Fire Damage 7 points Frost Damage 7 points 15-19 Fire Damage 9 points Frost Damage 9 points 20-24 Fire Damage 11 points Frost Damage 11 points 25-39 Fire Damage 13 points Frost Damage 13 points 30+ Fire Damage 15 points Frost Damage 15 points
The other starting effect, "Nourish Blade," has to do with the fact that you can get powered-up versions of both swords by killing a certain number of enemies. In particular, you need to kill 12 enemies with Dawnfang to get Duskfang powered up, and you need to kill 12 enemies with Duskfang to get Dawnfang powered up. (TIP: Keep summoning and sneak-attacking a weak creature, like a skeleton, to quickly get your 12 kills.) Note that the powered-up versions won't last forever, but for only one cycle. You'll need to keep "feeding" the sword to keep its two versions powered up all the time.
Each powered-up version of the sword has a new leveled enchantment in addition to the old one. The list below shows what the new enchantments are. (Note that the strength of the new enchantments will depend on what level you were when you first got the sword, not on what level you are when it gets powered up.)
