The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles Hints

Combat Tips

  • 1 of 8: The clone isn't a perfect duplicate. It has *twice* your health, but only half your speed. It can cast some spells that you can't, but doesn't have your exact equipment.
  • 2 of 8: For instance, if you have a complete set of Chameleon Clothing, the clone won't. That'll be a huge advantage for you, since you can repeatedly sneak-attack the clone without it being able to fight back.
  • 3 of 8: Also, if you have Resist Magic, Reflect Spell, Reflect Damage, etc. effects due to equipment, your clone won't have those effects. Another advantage for you.
  • 4 of 8: However, the clone will have copies of most of your potions and scrolls, so you'll probably want to put all of your poisons and magic scrolls in a container in the Nexus area before you enter the Grove of Reflection. Just don't forget to get them back later.
  • 5 of 8: The clone will rarely cast a spell to restore its health, but you'll be able to cast healing spells and use healing potions as much as you want. (And don't forget the Hearts of Order and the big healing and health bonus effects they have when used.)
  • 6 of 8: About the only way to survive this battle (especially if you're a high-level character playing on the highest difficulty setting) is to either have Chameleon Clothing on or at least have a high resistance to magic and physical damage.
  • 7 of 8: Use your best weapons and summoned creatures to take the clone down as quickly as you can.
  • 8 of 8: If you have the Mehrunes Razor weapon from the downloadable content (DLC) module of the same name, try using it since it can kill your clone in just one hit if you get lucky. (You can save your game right when he first appears, and then keep hitting him with the razor until one of you is dead. If it's you, restore your save and try again. If you have a Fortify Luck spell, use it to help your odds.)
